I've taken to saying some odd things, lately. I thought I'd assemble them into some sort of reference page, sort of a complement to the SCUL lingo page.

These are really me-isms, I think:

IT

Innertube

off-the-shelf components

Trashpickage

"here, diagonally" aka "very sneaky, sis"

The current best maneuver for dismounting TLA MoxieMoron (and other choppers with straddleable top tubes) in traffic - with pitch instead of roll - descending diagonally, inserting oneself between and parallel to the head tube and seat tube. (On e.g. JPR Bumblebee (aggressive stem), this can damn near kill you.)

superslacky

I'm trying to get at the luxurious handling of my mountain bike. This bike is just made for riding no-hands. I've ridden some non-choppers where you have really have to micromanage the steering - green bike foremost among them. Some day I'll go around measuring and comparing head tube angles and see what that tells me. (There are some handling links on the index page.)

recividism

Cross between recidivism, civvie, and dismal. A chopper created in a nondestructive way by assembling/rearranging bicycle parts and hardware has the property that the original donor bicycle (civilian vessel, civvie ship) can be reconstructed - this process is called "recividism," i.e. verse reengineering, the dismal science of decapitating phylogeny.

foostays, neitherstays

The horizontal stays on a flip-type tall bike - preflip, they were the seatstays. Postflip, they are neither seatstays nor chainstays. The preflip-chainstays are, postflip, called bothstays.

These are from the real world, or other inhabitants of some semblance thereof:

skunking

Trashpicking. This, no surprise, is a Skunkism - the one, in fact, he named himself after.

pre-apocalyptic

A HeadCrash-ism for, among other things, SCUL style.

pilot-induced oscillations

This is one way to have an airplane accident - there's no force feedback in the joystick, so you tend to push farther because the plane is responding slowly - then, when it turns out you held it too long, you push it the other way too long to compensate...

Anyway, mounting some choppers takes some disturbing back-and-forth before they're going at a speed where they'll hold steady.

Here are some words and phrases I just happen to like, lately - probably need no explication.

sketch, sketchy

I almost named my SCUL wing "Unlikely Accretions of Sketch" or "Bombproof Accretions of Sketch." On an unrelated note, I almost named MoxieMoron "PoorWarpControl."
