A typical Victorian mourning necklace would be something like this, only in faceted jet rounds and teardrops instead of faceted firepolish Czech glass. And it would all be linked together on separate wires, whereas this one is beaded on stainless steel "memory" wire and the large beads are separated by matte seed beads.
Wire is typically 15-18" long (one size fits most), beaded up completely, and tips capped with sterling (for reds) or onyx (for jet) half-drilled beads, or turned in loops.
